In 1971-72 we stayed at the Sheraton, and later at the Hilton, and Royal Lahaina alternatingly. Mid 1970's with heli tours of the whole island out of the old Kaanapali airport. Before flight, Dad with a cocktail at the Windsock and Roy Rogers for me. Dinners with mom & dad at Pineapple Hill up in Kapalua. Been going ever since myself and my wife over the last 22 years. I remember Lahaina when it had only a few shops and restaurants. The Lahaina Broiler was a good one.

Devastating that Lahaina is now gone.

Harvesting black coral is something that probably stopped in the early 1980's.The golden sand is brought in by barge from Molokai . I wonder if the big white L for Lahainaluna is still visible in the hilly landscape after the fires of Nov 2022?

It makes me mad to see how much more awesome Maui was 60 years ago. We humans are going to overdevelop and destroy anyplace as nice as Maui. I suspect you had to be a wealthy person to have enjoyed Maui in the early 60s. Plane travel alone back then would have been extremely expensive.

IT IS ABSOLUTELY BEAUTIFUL AND ABSOLUTELY BREATHTAKING! IT WOULD BE A MIRACLE TO OWN! I BELIEVE THAT MR. ESPARZA AND ALL OF MY BEAUTIFUL FRIENDS HAVE BLESSED ME WITH A PHENOMENAL DREAM HOME IN MAUI AND KAUAI! WOW! WOW! WOW! WOW! WOW! WOW! I WILL ABSOLUTELY BREAK DOWN AND CRY AND CRY AND CRY! I ABSOLUTELY LOVE MR ESPARZA AND ALL OF MY BEAUTIFUL FRIENDS! ( IT SAYS THE NEW OWNERS WOULD GET RID OF THE CURRENT BEAUTIFUL EMPLOYEES! I HOPE AND PRAY THAT DOESN'T HAPPEN. Please allow me sharing our resent stay at Andaz Maui Sept 3-6, 2021. We frustrate because Andaz Maui Check-In Team LIE. CIT keep telling us" room is almost done" from 1:30pm to 3:30pm. " almost done" means get room with 15minutes. But I don't get room from 1:30-3:30pm. It means CIT lie, lie to make us waiting in 3+hour in hot day and give us room at 3:45pm. That room is dirty, not as CIT said "deep cleaning" We frustrated because of lie. we can not trust resort, not able to relax/enjoy this resort. We are so anxious. Our trip is ruined. 12:08pm Sept 3 CIT say" ..request room deep clean now. It shouldn't take long .. You can wait in lobby" 1:30pm no room for us. Call Hyatt globalist line supervisor Judy check for us, answer ". .almost done, ready at 2:15pm ". Ok Wait. But no room 2:15pm. CIT approach us saying again " room is almost done.." Another supervisor Thomas check, response ".. almost done, ready in ..." still no room. Finally into room 3:45pm, immediately notice shower room dirty with long strip shower gel print in shower wall. It can be easily wipe out., definitely not deep clean. Email Complaint to Hyatt consumer affair/concierge@hyatt.com, 5 days passed, no one get back and no case number. So I called. Customer Chaos Solution Team Teresa Rush answered that resort delivered room by 4pm and You shouldn't complain resort give you room late. I don't think that she read my complaint carefully and she doesn't care. We clearly said out complaint is "LIE". Can she read? The problem is not the term, not the room guarantee time. The problem is CIT keep telling lie, destroy whole trip.
